Thursday, November 20 is the Great American Smokeout…the day to encourage smokers to quit for good and to encourage and support “quitters” on that difficult journey. Our goal of a healthy Charlotte calls for Mecklenburg County to be smoke-free.

There is a lot of help out there. We are launching a virtual campaign with the hashtag #CLTQuits. Please use that as you encourage “quitters” and you share your journey to a smoke-free life.
Also, come to the plaza at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center Thursday from 11 -1pm to go “Cold Turkey”. You can turn in tobacco products in exchange for a cold turkey sandwich plus info on QuitlineNC!
If you commit to quit with Quitline NC on Thursday, you can receive 8 weeks of free nicotine patches ( sent via mail – eligible if live in NC and 18 or older).
The plaza is an area that currently has a smoking area where city and county employees and public smokes – this will go away when the Smoke Free Government Grounds Rule goes into effect March 2015.
