#CLTQuits Great American Smokeout November 20

Thursday, November 20 is the Great American Smokeout…the day to encourage smokers to quit for good and to encourage and support “quitters” on that difficult journey. Our goal of a healthy Charlotte calls for Mecklenburg County to be smoke-free.

First and foremost, Take the pledge to quit and support a quitter at:

There is a lot of help out there. We are launching a virtual campaign with the hashtag #CLTQuits. Please use that as you encourage “quitters” and you share your journey to a smoke-free life.

Also, come to the plaza at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center Thursday from 11 -1pm to go “Cold Turkey”. You can turn in tobacco products in exchange for a cold turkey sandwich plus info on QuitlineNC!

If you commit to quit with Quitline NC on Thursday,  you can receive 8 weeks of free nicotine patches ( sent via mail – eligible if live in NC and 18 or older).

The plaza is an area that currently has a smoking area where city and county employees and public smokes – this will go away when the Smoke Free Government Grounds Rule goes into effect March 2015.

Come by and see us if you have time Thursday!   We will even have a live size turkey working the crowd  And join us in our #CLTQuits campaign. The attached flyer has complete information on the event on Thursday!
